The Rarámuri Track Club is a tribute to the Tarahumara people of North America. Many translations of Rarámuri or Tarahumara include "foot runner," or "light feet." Running long distances is a way of life for the Rarámuri community. The terrain of their homeland is filled with mountains and rivers. The Rarámuri find it more efficient to travel by foot, sometimes covering five miles just to reach neighboring farms. Some Rarámuri hunters will run their prey to exhaustion, rather than using bow and arrow or bullets. The Rarámuri region is considered an epidemiological “cold spots." These areas have dramatically less cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. The story told in Born to Run would eventually bring great worldwide respect to these amazing runners.
RTC's mission is to provide athletes with science-based training. Our ultimate goal is to maximize athletes' running potential. We also strive to create a supportive community for runners around the world. We coach athletes in Mexico, Japan, and all over the United States. We hope to continue our presence in other countries.
